Brake Pads & Discs — done properly, on your driveway.
What it is
Brake pad and disc replacement on site — front axle, rear axle or both. Quality-grade pads (organic, semi-metallic or ceramic as the vehicle warrants), matched discs where required, and full clean-and-lube of the caliper carrier so the new pads move freely.
Who it's for
Anyone hearing brake noise, feeling vibration under braking, or seeing the brake warning light. Also drivers due a service where wear-limit measurement flags brakes as the next item — cheaper to do in one visit than in two.
When you need it
The moment a grinding noise appears — that's metal on metal, cutting new grooves into the discs. Squeal is often the wear indicator doing its job (early warning). Vibration under braking usually means warped or unevenly worn discs.
Why it matters
Brakes are the one system where 'a bit longer' can end in an insurance claim. Correct pads, correct discs, correct clean-and-lube of the sliding parts, and correct torque on the caliper bolts is the difference between a good pedal and a scary one.
- Front and rear brake pad replacement
- Brake disc replacement
- Quality parts, torqued to spec
- Cars and light commercials
The cost of ignoring it is rarely the cost you expected.
Grinding ignored
Metal-on-metal wear ruins discs in a few hundred miles. A pad job becomes a pad+disc job — often double the parts cost.
Cheapest pads fitted regardless of vehicle
Wrong-friction-compound pads squeal, fade under heavy braking, or eat discs. Match the pad to the car, not the shelf.
Sliders not serviced
Caliper slide pins that aren't cleaned and re-greased at every pad change bind — leading to uneven wear, pull under braking, and premature failure of the new pads.
Five steps. Same every time. No surprises.
-
01
Vehicle up & wheel off
Car raised safely, wheel removed, brake system visually inspected before disassembly.
-
02
Caliper off & carrier cleaned
Caliper piston wound back, carrier removed, slide pins cleaned and re-lubricated with correct high-temp grease.
-
03
New pads / discs fitted
Pads matched to friction spec; discs (where being replaced) fitted to a clean, rust-free hub face so they run true.
-
04
Torque & bleed if required
Caliper bolts torqued to spec. If a flexi hose or caliper was disturbed, the corner is bled and pedal feel verified.
-
05
Bed-in & test drive
Progressive brake applications to bed pads to disc surface, followed by a road test to confirm even braking and no pull.
Concrete outcomes — not slogans.
Confidence on the pedal
Torqued, bled and tested — not just bolted up and handed back.
Right pads for the car
Family cars, hot hatches, vans and tow vehicles all need different friction compounds — we match, not guess.
Discs cut true
Rust-free hub face and correct torque = no run-out, no vibration in six months.
Sliding parts serviced
Slide pins cleaned and re-greased — the step most quick-fits skip.
Same-day on your driveway
No day off work, no courtesy car needed.
Straight quote
Fixed price by axle, quoted with the reg — no 'while you're there' extras.
Brake Pads & Discs — the bits fitters usually skip.
Pad compounds — organic, semi-metallic, ceramic
Organic pads are quiet and easy on discs — best for city cars and lower-load use. Semi-metallic pads bite harder and handle heat better — right for family cars, tow vehicles and vans. Ceramic pads run coolest, produce less dust and last longest — worth the premium on higher-mileage and premium vehicles. Fitting semi-metallic to a car built for organic causes squeal; fitting organic to a heavy-tow vehicle causes fade. We match to the vehicle.
Warped discs — or uneven pad transfer?
'Warped disc' is often mis-diagnosed. What feels like warp under braking is usually uneven pad-material transfer — patches of pad material embedded in the disc surface from hot-and-hold braking (sitting on the pedal at temperature). The fix is often disc replacement plus proper bedding-in of the new pads to prevent recurrence. Genuine warp is rarer than the internet suggests.
Fluid, hoses and calipers
Brake pads and discs are only half of the system. Old, moisture-laden brake fluid boils under heavy use and gives a spongy pedal. Perished flexi hoses balloon under pressure and cause pull. Seized caliper pistons or slide pins wear one pad faster than the other. Any service worth having looks at all of these — not just the pad thickness.

Answers to what drivers actually ask.
How much does a mobile brake job cost?
Quoted on request — call with your registration and we'll price the pads (or pads and discs) for your specific vehicle before dispatch.
How long does a brake pad replacement take?
Front pads: about 45–60 minutes. Front pads and discs: 90 minutes. Both axles: 2–2.5 hours.
How do I know if I need discs as well as pads?
If the discs are below manufacturer minimum thickness, deeply grooved, or corroded through the friction face, they need replacement. We measure with a micrometer, not by eye.
Will you match OE brakes?
Yes — OE or premium OE-equivalent parts (Brembo, ATE, Textar, Ferodo, Pagid, Bosch) as standard, unless you specifically request a budget option.
What if the caliper has seized?
Diagnosed on arrival — a seized caliper needs a new caliper, not just pads. We quote before starting and never surprise-bill you.
Is a mobile brake job as safe as a garage one?
Yes — same tools, same torque specs, same standards. What matters is the fitter's training, not the postcode.
Do the brakes feel different straight after?
Slightly — new pads take 100–200 gentle miles to bed fully to the disc. We do the initial bedding cycle on the test drive so the pedal is safe immediately.
Do you cover brake work outside your main three cities?
Yes — Gloucester, Swansea, Taunton, Hereford, Brecon and Chepstow are regular coverage.
